Not Christmas

It was the feast of dedication…and Jesus walked in the temple…John 10:22-23

The feast of dedication is Hanukkah. Hanukkah this year is December 18th thru December 26th. It is the Jewish celebration of re-dedicating the temple after it was profaned by Antiochus Epiphanes in 167 B.C. He killed 40,000 citizens of Israel and enslaved another 40,000 Jews. It is also called the feast of renovation and the feast of lights. It is an eight-day celebration. This abomination was predicted by Daniel, chapter 8. It is a celebration of another victory of Satan’s constant battle against God’s people. It is the result of his deception and darkness over earth.

The feast was predicted by the prophet Haggai: For this says the LORD of hosts: once more I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory, the LORD of hosts. The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, says the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former, says the LORD of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the LORD of hosts, chapter 2:6-9. It is possible Haggai also predicted you as the new living temple of the Holy Spirit.

Even though the feast of dedication was not one of the seven feasts of the Lord, it was blessed by the presence of Jesus, John 10:23-23. Jesus called His disciples the light of the world. Perhaps, God is saving the best for the last. When His Spirit will fall again upon His disciples and His glory will be greater than before! Perhaps this is what Isaiah spoke of: Arise, shine. For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness of the people. But the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you, Isaiah 60:1-2.

You have been made righteous by His blood. You are His light. You are His living temple. A living, walking celebration dedicated to the glory of God. May His love shine in and through you as you are prepared for His coming!
