Patient in spirit is better…Ecclesiastes 7:8

Wisdom says: The end of a thing is better than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:8-9. This statement makes more sense when we include Verse 1: A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death is better than the day of one’s birth. Or, the end of a thing is better than its beginning.

In the words of James, let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:4 In essence, James brings forward the words of Solomon and Moses: He is the Rock. His work is perfect. For all His ways are justice. A God of truth and without injustice. Righteous and upright is He. Deuteronomy 32:4

Jesus exemplified this truth. His end was much better than His beginning. As spectacular as His birth was, announced by a host of angels; as hard as His life was, challenged by every leader; as painful as His death was, Jesus sits at the right hand of God! The end is much better than the beginning and every day in between.

Look past today. Even tomorrow, and the years to come before Jesus returns. The hope of the shall perish, though he may gain much, if God takes away his life? Job 8:13 and 27:8. This is faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, Hebrews 11:1. The just shall live by faith…Hebrews 10:38

This is wisdom. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. We can argue with this or accept it. Pride leads to arguing, which leads to anger, anger can lead to sin. It is better to accept it as truth.

God is completing you. be confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…Philippians 1:6. You have God’s word!
