When Jesus saw their faith…Mark 2:5

This miracle was recorded in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It came on the heels of Jesus’ remarks about the faith of the Roman centurion, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” Matthew 8:10. And it is followed by Jesus’ comments to the woman who touched the hem of His garments, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Mark 5:24. And the blind man who cried out, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:48. Jesus gave him his sight saying, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” Mark 10:52. Faith does not make everything easy, but faith does make all things possible.

Faith brings healing to some. Faith brings forgiveness to all who seek God. Hebrews 11:6: But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. As students of Scripture, you knew this. Psalm 105:3: Glory in His holy name. Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! Jeremiah 29:13: And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 

Thank God, Jesus puts up with those of us with little faith, Matthew 6:30 regarding our daily needs. Matthew 8:26 regarding our fear of current circumstances. Matthew 14:31 when we try but give up too soon. 

Thank God, Jesus gives life to those who believe. Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, 1 John 5:1. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:5. John learned this from Jesus Himself. Over and over in the John’s gospel Jesus equates believing (having faith) in Him to everlasting life. Here is just one example: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life, John 6:47. 

This is you. This is who you are. You have life because of your faith. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Not even yourself!
