Turn, Turn

Repent, and turn…Ezekiel 18:30

Yet again God has spoken. This is not the first time God has called for repentance; nor will it be the last. Throughout the Bible, God calls us to repentance. He calls us to turn from our sin. Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, to that iniquity will not be your ruin, says the Lord God. Ezekiel 18:30b. As you know, to repent means to turn. In fact, in Hebrew, Ezekiel 18:30 reads turn and turn.

Even in His last book, Revelation, God calls people to repent. Many refuse, Revelation 9:20-21; 16:9 & 16:11. God had already warned by His prophets what will happen if they don’t: Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Even by His Apostles, Jesus calls for repentance: Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you, Acts 8:22.

And you did. You repented. You turned from your sin. You asked for and received forgiveness. Your iniquity shall not be your ruin. When judgment comes to this fallen world, it shall not come upon you. God has declared this by His prophets. Read Isaiah, chapter 26. God has already predicted your resurrection: your dead shall live, verse 19, awake and sing, you who dwell in dust. God has spoken through Nahum, chapter 1. What God predicted for Nineveh, will come against this fallen world, The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked, verse 3. The mountains quake before Him, the hills melt, and the earth heaves at His presence, yes, the world and all who dwell in it, verse 5.

This forecast is not in your future. For you have already repented and turned from your sin and have already been forgiven. You are now in Christ. When He comes again, He will receive you so you will be where He is, John 14:3. Judgment only comes to the wicked. You are not among them. You are in Christ, the Righteous.
