Waiting

Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, Isaiah 40:31

Timely advice for today. This is where we are these days; waiting on the Lord. Both His return and His answer to our many prayers. We are waiting for our adoption to be completed. That is the resurrection: Romans 8:23: and not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Many of us are truly groaning while waiting for new bodies.

For this reason, we turn to the prophets for hope. Isaiah 25:9: And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God. We have waited for Him and He will save us. This is the LORD, we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation. That day is coming; but not yet. Meanwhile, we wait. Jesus said He would return therefore, He will return.

Meanwhile, we pray. We pray as often as we can. Jesus prayed to the Father three times, why shouldn’t we? Paul prayed three times, why shouldn’t we? Elijah prayed three times, why shouldn’t we? We pray until we hear God say, “My grace is sufficient.” Then we stop.

Meanwhile, we don’t worry about tomorrow. For tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble, said Jesus. Matthew 6:34. This He said right after, But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. We have plenty to think about this year. Tomorrow’s worries should not be one of them. Jesus will return when it is His time and not before. When Jesus was asked about the coming of His kingdom He said, It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority, Acts 1:7. This truth still applies. We who wait upon the Lord shall renew our strength.
