Building an Ark
From these the whole earth was populated…Genesis 9:19
Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. From these three the whole earth was populated. So, we are all related to either Shem, Ham, or Japheth. This is what the Bible says. Shem is mentioned first because he is the father of the Semites, the descendants of Abraham. From him came the seed of the woman, Genesis 3:15. From him came the Messiah, our Redeemer, the Savior, the Son of God, Jesus born of Mary.
These are of the eight who entered the ark: Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives. The rest of the world was corrupt. Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually, Genesis 6:5. God, who is patient, righteous and holy, will only tolerate so much. So God said to Noah, the end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them…Genesis 6:13. The Lord commanded Noah to build an ark.
To better understand what is going on today, we need to understand what happened in the past. To understand the present, we need to understand where we came from; how we got to where we are now. We need to know our ancestors; what they believed, their values, and what happened to them. We need to understand Noah and how he found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah had a right relationship with God. His conduct was righteous in the sight of God. He walked with God. Noah began his day talking to the Lord and continued in conversation all day long. Noah is an inspiration of faith.
As we get closer to the return of Jesus, we see the world becoming more and more like it was in the days of Noah. The world is filled with the violence of men toward men, people against people, and nations against nations. Just like the Bible predicted. God will only tolerate so much corruption. Then judgment will come. So, make yourself an ark. A place where you and your family can safely rise above this corrupt world. Start with your home.
