Great Power Comes From Great Grace
And great grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33
Speaking of the young church of Christ, Luke wrote: Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul…Acts 4:32. This was the result of being filled with the Holy Spirit, Verse 31. This is a real revival. When God the Spirit moves upon the church there is unity and great power, verse 33: And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and great grace was upon them all. This is the power of grace in action.
Great power: Luke brings forward words from the Old Testament. Here is just one of several: Ah, Lord God! Behold! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You, Jeremiah 32:17. Because of God’s great grace, His great power has come upon the Church. There is nothing the Church cannot do that God wants done.
This is the living faith spoken of by Peter, Paul, and James. This is the works of God spoken of by Jesus. When asked: what shall we do, that we may work the works of God? Jesus replied: This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent, John 6:28-29. This is living faith: believing in Jesus!
If we expect our children, and their children, to believe in Jesus, they need to see Jesus in us. They need to witness the resurrection of Jesus in our lives. They need to be taught how to give a reason for the hope that is in them. Jesus is not dead. He is very much alive. Jesus is not doing nothing. He is very busy. Jesus is not a story book character. He is the King of kings and He is coming! He is coming in great power, Mark 13:28: Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
