God’s Peace

Peace I leave with you…John 14:27

Jesus went on to say, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful, John 14:27. 

Now this is a promise for today! The world cannot give us peace today, nor could it ever. But certainly not now. The world is fallen and obviously under the power of the evil one. The world is under the power of deception. Peace is not in the world’s power to give; only strife. We can expect the opposite of peace: trouble, trials, and tribulation. 

Thank God for His amazing grace. Through Jesus, who was dead but now is alive. In the words of Jesus, I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen…Revelation 1:18. Because He is alive, Jesus still gives us His peace. The peace of God is true peace, lasting peace, genuine peace. Not as the world gives you, said Jesus, I give you My peace. The peace of God is a gift from Jesus.

The world can only offer their concept of peace—a cease fire. This is a false peace—a temporary peace. A peace is easily broken because this is the plan of the evil one. The peace of the world is like heroin. It brings an instant, temporary feeling of euphoria. Once gone, it can never be reached again. It is a one-time high. But it is addicting. The world keeps hoping for peace. They do not understand they are incapable of having peace without God. They are deceived.

But you are not deceived. You have been changed. You have been empowered. You have instant access to God the Spirit. Therefore, do not let your heart be troubled, no let it be fearful. You are securely in Christ. Enjoy His peace.
