I Am The Lord’s

I will pour My Spirit…Isaiah 44:3

God reminds us through the prophet we have His Spirit. God gave the gift of life twice. First when we were conceived, The LORD who made you and formed you from the womb, Isaiah 44:2. Then again when God gave us His Spirit. We might refer to this as Life 1.0 and LIFE 2.0. 

Not coincidentally, God refers back to Eden in His proclamation of life. First, when God breathed life into Adam, And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being, Genesis 2:7. Then again in Isaiah 44:2. Then again in John 20:22: And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

But there is more. As in Isaiah 44, Jesus ties water with His Spirit. Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God, John 3:5. In Isaiah 44: 3: I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring… From the beginning, water and Spirit were connected to life.

This is how it was meant to be from the beginning. Adam and Eve were to enjoy all the blessings of God in the Garden fed by the water God supplied by His Spirit. Apparently, God needs to remind us of this truth through the Prophet Isaiah. This is what we are to give thanks for. Gratitude is the beginning of praise and worship. Notice Verse 5 of Isaiah 44: One will say, “I am the LORD’s” Another will call himself by the name of Jacob. Another will write with his hand, “The LORD’s” and name himself by the name of Israel. For this reason, we call ourselves by His name: Christian! In doing so we proclaim to the world, I am the Lord’s!
