War against the soul…1 Peter 2:11

We are at war; a spiritual war. According to Peter, a war against our lusts. 1 Peter 2:11: Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul. That is you. You are the Beloved of God. You are just passing through this world. You are in a war for your soul. The wars of this world are of this world. There will always be wars and rumors of wars. The world has been deceived by the liar of all liars.

Jesus will deal with this world when He sends the ruler of this world into the bottomless pit. Meanwhile, we are to do what He wants, which is the will of The Father. The will of The Father is that all men will be saved, 1 Timothy 2:4. This means we must resist the temptations of this world leading us away from His will.

John said it best: For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but of the world, 1 John 2:16. So, our spiritual war has three fronts: lust, lust, and pride. All three come from this world. None of these can bring true happiness for they are all temporary.

Spiritual warfare is against deception. Satan’s most used weapon is deception. However, his lies do not always work. What worked in the Garden with Eve and Adam did not work in the wilderness with Jesus. You have Jesus. He has granted us victory in this war but we still have to fight—resist, standfast, endure to the end.

This war we are in requires we guard our soul. We should be aware. Like a soldier on the front lines. You are constantly monitoring the situation. We defend even while we attack. In our spiritual war, we monitor what our eyes see, our ears hear, our mind thinks. 

While others live unaware of the real war, you are prepared. You have all you need to withstand. Knowledge may be power in this world. In the real world, power comes from God. Greater is He who is you than is in the world…
