Keep The Faith

Kept by the power of God…1 Peter 1:5

We are saved by the gospel, the power of God unto salvation through faith, Romans 1:16 AND we are kept by the power of through faith, 1 Peter 1:5. No wonder Jesus said, “It is finished.” No wonder Paul wrote, For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him (Jesus), who is the head of all principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10.

We know this because we know the Bible. Unlike those who challenged Jesus in person. The Sadducees came to Jesus to challenge His teaching on the resurrection. So, they invented a story about a woman who has been married seven times. Here is their question, “Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be?” Matthew 22:29. Jesus begins His answer with a brilliant opening statement: You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. Matthew 22:29.

Too many people today ask God dumb, that is, inappropriate questions because they do not know the Scriptures. Many are led astray into strange doctrines because they do not know their Bible. That was Jesus’ first point: you are mistaken not knowing the Scriptures. But examine His second point: not knowing the power of God. They are deceived by those who do great things. This was true of Simon the sorcerer, of Acts 8:9 & 10. His sorcery was so great people said of him: This man is the great power of God. They were mistaken not knowing the Scriptures nor the real power of God.

Only Jesus demonstrates the power of God on earth and in heaven. For this reason, He instructed His disciples just before His arrest saying, Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God, Luke 22:69. Paul encountered the Power of God on the Damascus Road. This experience caused Paul to write: but to those who are called, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, 1 Corinthians 1:24. In fact, Paul often wrote to the church in Corinth (and to us) about the power of God. Consider 2 Corinthians 13:4: He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. We shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.

Let no one shake your faith. You are saved and kept by the power of God. The Bible says so!
