Think Where You Are
Set your mind…Colossians 3:2
Once we realize we can think with a transformed mind, Romans 12:1, we can now set our mind on things above, not on things on the earth, Colossians 3:1. But how? How can we who are often overwhelmed by the things of the earth even have time to think about heavenly things?
Paul gives us the answer in verse 1: if then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. And verse 3: for you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
This is who we are now: in Christ. And now, at this instant, Christ is seated at the right hand of God. You are in Him who is sitting at the right hand of God. No–not later—now. So, now, even in the midst of dealing with all the things of this world, you are in Christ seated at the right of God.
Before being born again, you were not in Christ. Now you are. But you, having believed, have died and have been raised with Christ and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Now—even right now.
This is how you set your mind on things above. Remember where you are in Christ—above. So, set your mind to think like where you are already—above. It is that simple and that complex.
God knows what you are going through. You are not out of His sight nor are you out of His thoughts. God is saying, think about where you are—really. And think that way. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind by setting your mind on heavenly things; your real home.
This is just one of the many blessings of being a child of God. You do not have to think the old way. Burdened by the things of this world. You have died to this world (and your past) you have been raised to a new life. A life hidden with Christ in God. Now, think like it!
