Overcomer
You will be like God…Genesis 3:4
The reason Jesus came is recorded on the first three pages of Genesis. The two people God created to partner with Him to protect the earth forgot who they really were. They were already like God. In that, they had been created in the image of God, Chapter 1, verse 26: Then God said, let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth…
They forgot and fell for the big lie: You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil, Chapter 3, verses 3-4. When we forget who we are in Christ, we are one step away from falling for the lie.
We are surrounded by hate and distention. People who lie, distort, and destroy truth. People who have fallen for the lie leaving their soul destitute, dead. People who need Jesus.
For this reason, Jesus came to restore man back to his former self: the image of God. This is our destiny. To be conformed to the image of Christ. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, Romans 8:29.
Soon Jesus will return to restore order to the chaos. Just as He did in creation, Genesis 1:2. The earth was without form, and void…
Until then we enjoy the guilt-free life in Christ. It is good that we revisit the fall in Genesis from time to time. It reminds us of the terrible effect of sin. It led to eviction from paradise and worse, murder. It led to the flooding of earth. It led to the cross. The reason Jesus came.
Those in Christ have nothing to fear. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is you is greater than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4. You are an overcomer.
