Thinking?
Let us reason together…Isaiah 1:18
These words were spoken to a rebellious nation: Israel. But perhaps the offer still stands. Maybe God is saying to the world today, come now, let us reason together, though your sins be like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. God is inviting all to come and receive forgiveness of sins.
Perhaps God is also saying, when you look into the night sky, what do you see? What do you think? How do you imagine how all the stars and the moon got there; and stay there? When you invented the telescope and looked beyond, what did you think? When you saw galaxies full of stars and planets, what did you think? How did you reason they got there?
When you looked at the earth, what did you think? Where did you think the soil and the water and the plants and the animals came to be? When you realized the differences within the similarities of species, what did you think?
When you looked at your own body, what did you think? When you pondered your ability to ponder, what did you think? How did you come to your awareness? When you discovered you were different, not only from others like you, but the other creatures, what did you think? When you asked yourself “why” how did you answer yourself?
When you read the words, Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD, what did you think? Did you think this was an invitation from God to argue with Him? Or did you consider how remarkable it was that God considered you able to reason with Him?
Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD, though your sins are like scarlet they shall be as white as snow… Consider this: forgiveness of sins from God. A reasonable offer.
