Life In Christ
We have seen God and lived…Deuteronomy 5:26
It is a wonderful thing to see the glory of God. Verse 23 & 24: “So it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders. And you said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives.
We have all stood in wonder at certain things in nature: The Grand Canyon, a rainbow, a child taking his/her first steps; and the list goes on. These all pale in the wonder of a glimpse of how glorious God really is. This is why all who saw Jesus for who He was worshipped Him. This is why we who saw Jesus humbled ourselves before Him. This is why we willingly submit to water baptism.
Beyond our current circumstances stands our Good Shepherd. With out-stretched hands He beckons us home. Even so, we have much to do—here and now. Our mission is not yet completed.
God heard these words spoken at Mount Sinai: Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives. Verses 28 & 29: “Then the Lord heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me: ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They are right in all that they have spoken. 29 Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever.
This is divine assurance. God hears us and responds to our words; mainly our prayers. What the physical eye cannot see, our spiritual eyes comprehend. God is gracious, and merciful. His glory is manifested in our worship of His salvation. For this reason, we keep the great commission of our Lord Jesus. We make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
