Something To Think About
Holy Convocation
In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rese, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation, Leviticus 23:14
Also, the tenth day of this seven month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you. You shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the LORD, Leviticus 23:27
The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the LORD. On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. Leviticus 23:34-35
And on the eighth day a sabbath-rest, Leviticus 23:39b
These three holy convocations are known as the Fall Feasts of the Lord. They are this month, September, 2023:
The Feast of Trumpets is a two day feast. It begins Friday evening on September 15 concluding, Saturday evening, September 16.
The Feast of the Day of Atonement is a two day feast. It begins Sunday evening, September 24 concluding Monday evening, September 25.
The Feast of Tabernacles is a seven day feast. It begins Friday evening, September 29 concluding Friday evening, October 6.
The Eighth Day, Saturday, October 7, is known as Simchat Torah, it is a one day celebration of receiving the Torah.
Each of these Jewish holidays were being celebrated in Israel during the days of Jesus. Including Hanukkah. Which is referred to as the feast of lights in the gospels. Jesus would have been at each of these celebrations as they were sanctioned by the Lord to Israel through Moses. For this reason alone, we should be aware of these feasts.
