The Light
Shown us His glory…Deuteronomy 5:24
History does repeat itself. At Mt. Sinai the people were so afraid they thought they were going to die, Surely the LORD our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives.Deuteronomy 5:24.
Compare this with Matthew 17: Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John His brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun…and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, Hear Him!’ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid, Matthew 17:1-2; 5-6
It is good that we fall before our God, for He is holy. He is our Judge. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. Deuteronomy 5:9-10. Those who love God receive the full benefits of God’s mercy. Those that do not love God—do not. The sheep and the goats.
Because you have seen God through Jesus you live. Jesus is life; eternal life. You saw and you fell at His feet seeking His mercy. You humbled yourself before the Lord and now life. You have seen God and did not die. As did they at Mt. Sinai and Mt. Hermon.
Remember this as the waters of doubt creep up past your knees. Call out to Jesus, “Save me!” Do not let grief, nor temptation, nor criticism, nor any other arrows of this world get past your shield of faith. Instead, let trouble and trials make you stronger. Let others see the glory of God shining through your resolve. Rejoice, for this is the day God has made, Psalm 118:24.
