Be Glorified Lord!

Glorified in His saints…2 Thessalonians 1:10

In both of his letters to the Thessalonians, Paul mentions the second coming of our Lord Jesus. We, who are eager for His return, are fond of these comforting words. Well, comforting to the saints. Not so much for those who did not obey the gospel. Consider Paul’s words in verses 6 thru 9 of 2 Thessalonians, chapter 2. Especially verse 8: in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, the gospel is good news, more so to those who believe. To the rest, the news is not so good.

The next time you are thinking badly of yourself, consider this: the word saint is from the same word as holy. As you know, something or in your case, someone, who is holy is pure, morally blameless, consecrated; that is, clean. One cannot be in the presence of God and not be holy. Therefore, God says, be holy for I am holy.

This is only possible because of what God did through Jesus. God imputed the holiness of Jesus upon you because of your faith and His grace. It is no small thing that God considers you to be a saint, that is, blameless of all sins in His sight. Consider this: God does not see your sin because He blinds Himself to your sins or because God has hidden your sins behind the blood of Jesus. God does not see your sin because He has forgiven you of all your sins—they are gone. Not just out-of-sight, they are gone!

Therefore, you are a saint. Now back to 2 Thessalonians, chapter 1, verse 10: when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because of our testimony among you was believed

The testimony of a believer brought you faith in Christ. Your testimony is bringing others to faith in Jesus. So that, in the Day of His return all who are in Christ shall glorify our Savior among all who believe! Consider that on the day you don’t feel so worthy. You are loved by God the Father.  Saved by God the Son. Empowered by God the Spirit. You are destined to see Jesus glorified in you among all the saints!
