God is Not Ashamed of You!
God is not ashamed…Hebrews 11:16
God is not ashamed to be called their God. Who? These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Hebrews 11:13. That is who!
But there is more. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us. Hebrews 11:39-40. Praise God, the “us” includes you. You have been made perfect.
Think about being made perfect; that is, thoroughly complete, finished, fulfilled. Not by anything you have done. But by simply being in Christ Jesus, who is perfect, Hebrews 2:10. Why? For the law made nothing perfect, on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God,Hebrews 7:19. For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually fear by year, make those who approach perfect, Hebrews 10:1
Following a quote from Jeremiah 31 in Hebrews 8, comes verse 13: In that He says, ‘a new covenant,’ He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete is growing old and is ready to vanish away. This means by faith you have moved from the ordinary into the extraordinary. You have moved into a new and better communion with God they only hoped for. Though they obtained a good testimony through faith, they did not receive the promise…God has provided something better: they shall be made perfect apart from us.
For this reason, these all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar, off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:13 thru 16.
A city we all long to enter. Because God is not ashamed of you that you should call Him your God!
