It is Done!
Grace and peace be multiplied…2 Peter 1:2
We notice Peter, like Paul, puts grace right up front in their letters; in their praise of God. Grace and peace are from God our Father AND the Lord Jesus Christ! Just how does Peter suggest we achieve multiplied Grace: “in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord” The more we understand about the character of God and what Jesus did the more we appreciate God’s abundant grace.
2 Peter, chapter 1, verse 3: as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. We notice we have already received ‘all things that pertain to life and godliness.’ Nothing has been omitted. There is nothing more for us to do to achieve more godliness. God has already made us right with Himself. And He has sealed that promise with His Spirit. We are complete in Christ.
In other words, there is nothing for us to do to become more saved. There are no special disciplines we must perform to be more acceptable. There are no special opportunities we must grasp to become more righteous. We have been given the righteousness of Christ Jesus. His righteousness has been imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, Romans 4:24. There is nothing left for us to do.
We have been given exceedingly, great, and precious promises, by His divine power, Verse 3. There is no further action you need to take to become right with God. You have His Grace and His Peace. You are in Christ, Christ is in the Father, therefore you are already right with God. No more rules, regulations, or requirements. It is done!
