God Loves Me!
He is risen…Matthew 27:64
Seal the sepulcher, lest they steal the body and say, he is risen. Matthew 27:64. The religious leaders knew the Scriptures. They knew what Jesus had said. But they did not believe what you believed. A young five-year-old was asked by her grandmother what she learned in Sunday School: “God loves me so much He died on the cross for me.”
While the rest of Israel was celebrating the spring feast of First Fruits, Jesus’ disciples were examining an empty tomb. Where they met their risen lord; very much alive. They came to realize what He had told them was true, “after three days” I will rise from the grave. His disciples believed.
They also realized the risen Jesus is different. They had not fully grown accustomed to how different He was before. Only now He is really different. Before He walked on water. Now He walked through walls. Or at least it appeared He walked through them. Or did He just appear? Is this the kingdom of God He preached about? Do we believe this?
Do we really believe we shall live again? We should because the Bible says so. We have the First Fruits. Romans 8:23: not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. Our resurrection is our adoption into the heavenly family of God.
This God predicted would happen. This God predestined would happen, Ephesians 1:5: having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will. This God has done in you. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirt of adoption by who we cry out ‘Abba, Father.’Romans 8:15. We are those who cry out, Abba, Father, to the Lord on High when we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen!
