New Normal
They were eating and drinking…Matthew 24:38
Jesus’ disciples asked Him one day, “What will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? (Matthew 24:3) One of the signs was this statement: For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Verses 38 & 39. In other words, it will be life as normal when He returns.
Verses 40 and 41 sound like the rapture: Two men will be working; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be working; one will be taken and one will be left. Only those who belong to Christ will be caught up to meet Him in the air. All others will be left behind. Good for some, bad for others. There is much to be done.
Verses 38 and 39 sound like the second coming because of the reference to “the days of Noah.” The days leading up to the great flood were not good. Genesis 6:5: Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. That sounds pretty bad. Bad enough for God to destroy mankind; except for eight souls. Sounds like God has plans for another world-wide judgment of man. We really do have a lot to do.
As we watch good become evil and evil become good, we think the days of Noah are here. If so, then the new normal will be every intent of the thoughts of men’s hearts will be evil continually. Time is running out for good people to do something. Nevertheless, we cannot ignore Verse 36: But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. So, we work until we are taken!
