Interesting Fact

In the midst of the waters…Genesis 1:6

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, Genesis 1:1. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, Verse 2. And God said, let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters, Verse 6. And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. The same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. Genesis 7:10-11

Could it be that some of the water that created the world-wide flood came from the water above the earth trapped within the firmament? Some from below and some from above? If so, is there more water up there? If so, is there any evidence?

Ice is common in our solar system, from deposits at the poles of Mercury and the moon to ice-covered moons and rings around distant Jupiter and Saturn, and comets made of ice and other materials streaming across spaces between. And, of course, ice is present around our own world. NASA.gov

Perhaps the water is up there in the form of ice. Then what is holding the water back? The firmament. Interesting fact from the Hebrew language. The word translated firmament is the Hebrew word raw-kee’ah, OT7549. Which means an extended solid surface, and expanse, a base support. Suggested by the Hebrew language the waters above are supported by a barrier more solid than we might have thought.

OT7549 in its verb form is OT75554, raw-kaw, meaning to spread, to stretch, to stamp. It is the verb used to describe how the gold overlay was made in the building of the Tabernacle. And they did beat, ra-kaw, the gold into thin plates, and cut it into threads, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, into artistic designs, Exodus 39:3. It is used in Job 37:18, with Him, have you spread out (ra-kaw) the skies, strong as a cast metal mirror? Interesting!

It appears our Bible is true. God is real, Jesus is His Son, the Spirit is within us. The waters below are held in place by earth. The waters above are held by heaven; the firmament, the rawkee’ah.Just another reason to trust the word of God and place our faith in the Word of God, Jesus.
