Patience, A Gift of God
The Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. Romans 8:26
As we eagerly wait for the realization of our hope, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, verse 25. As we groan in our spirit for our new bodies, the Spirit helps us, verse 23. As we live on a planet awaiting its transformation, the Spirit is with us, verse 22. As we suffer through our circumstances, the Spirit is our Comforter, verse 18. For it His Spirit makes intercession on our behalf, verse 27.
For we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose, verse 28. This is where we hold fast to our faith. During these times when we do not understand how all bad things can possibly work together for good. Paul is writing to Christians in Rome, some destined to be tortured for Christ. Christians around the world are being tortured for Christ. How can this work together for good? From our human perspective, good would have been a miraculous rescue. From our personal perspective, good would be an answer to our prayers for our good. Perhaps we should continue reading.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified, and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Perhaps the good is what God has done for us. Maybe the good is what Jesus and His Spirit are doing for us. God in His unified oneness is working together for our good. A good that transcends this earth and all its evil; glory. We either consider this possibility or we fault God’s word. Since the latter is inconceivable, then the former is true.
Be patient. God is working all things for your good. Christ in you the hope of glory! Colossians 1:27
