Power In The Blood
My blood of the new covenant…Matthew 26:28, Mark 14:24, Luke 22:20
At Mt. Sinai The LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them. Exodus 24:12. Thus began discipleship.
In Hebrew the word ‘law’ is torah; the word ‘commandments’ is mitzvah. Moses received both from the Lord. Both were to be taught to God’s people. This was to prepare people for the new covenant. The Torah includes all the teachings necessary to draw close to God and live. The commandments were the ordinances by which people were to worship God. Both were intended to bring forth life.
The Apostle Paul knew this. He taught this to the church especially through his second letter to the church in Corinth. God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life, 2 Corinthians 3:6. Paul explains this mystery. The letter of the law taught us the penalty of sin, death. The spirit of the law teaches us the remedy of sin, life; life in Christ. This is because of shed blood, Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
Paul illustrates this truth using Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away, 2 Corinthians 3:13. As the glory of God reflected in the face of Moses began to fade, Exodus 34:33. This Paul says represents the fading away of what was to reveal what is now. But unlike Moses the glory of God shines forth as the Light who is Jesus, who gives us hope and great boldness of speck, 2 Corinthians 3:12
Paul continues his teaching to the church, Verse 14. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
This is you. Living your faith without a veil or blinded minds. Walking by the Spirit in liberty. Allowing others to see the glory of the Lord as you are being transformed from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord. All because of the blood of the new covenant shed by Jesus!
