Jesus taught us to teach, part 3
You will die in your sin…John 8:21
Jesus said this of those who rejected Him by wrongly accusing Him; Verse 22: Will He kill Himself, because He says, ‘Where I go you cannot come’?
Those who believe in Jesus are set free, verse 31.
Those who reject Him die in their sin remaining a slave to sin, verse 34. Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed, verse 36.
Jesus taught in simple terms. He was a master at saying exactly what He meant. Jesus came to set us free from our sin. If we reject Him, we remain in our sin. Those who remain in sin, die in their sin. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, which is how the Apostle Paul explained this truth in Romans 3:23.
Those who teach in the style of Jesus keep it simple. Those who reject want to complicate things. Notice verse 33: They answered Him, ‘We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free?’
Those who reject Jesus often reveal their very short memory. Abraham’s descendants had been in bondage several times. Namely, in Egypt, in Persia, and in Babylon. Those who reject Jesus today often make the same short-memory mistake. “I’m not lost, why do I need a Savior?”
Those who teach in the style of Jesus only need to keep their words simple. The simplest form of teaching is to just quote the words of Jesus. For the gospel is the power of God unto salvation.
