Living in Mercy
In Your mercy…Exodus 15:13
Having witnessed Pharaoh and his army drowned in the Red Sea, the people sang praises to God. Exodus Chapter 15,Verse 13 is but one line of this song of worship to their Redeemer: You in Your mercy have led forth the people whom You have redeemed. You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation. Our worship songs are no less God-honoring than this impromptu chorus.
Like so many today, their joy will be short lived. Soon they will complain against the same God who led them, who guided them, who redeemed them. Oh, how quickly we forget God’s great mercy!
To help us remember, we examine the sequence of this single line of the song: You in Your mercy; You have led us; You have led the people You redeemed; You have guided the redeemed; You guide by Your strength, the very strength of heaven, Your holy habitation. A wonderful poem expressing an eternal truth: God leads those He redeems. This includes you.
This idea will be repeated in Verse 17: You will bring them in and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which You have made for Your own dwelling, the sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.
This is strangely prophetic. Jesus is preparing a place for you in His Father’s house. A place of His making. A place where God dwells. Jesus is coming to get you so you can be where He is; not here. In His Father’s house. A sanctuary not made with hands, but by the very hands of God Himself.Meanwhile, God in His mercy is leading, guiding, protecting you. Because you are His. Because you have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, His only begotten Son. Do not fear. You are in His mercy
