Power of Unity
One accord in prayer…Acts 1:4
There is a certain blessing that comes from a prayer meeting when God’s people are praying in one accord—in agreement. This was what happened in Jerusalem when the apostles and the women and Jesus’ brothers and Mary, His mother assembled in the upper room. It was there while they were, in one accord, The Holy Spirit filled the whole house where they were sitting, Acts 2:2. It was there in that same room the Holy Spirit filled them, verse 4.
From there, being filled with the Holy Spirit, the 120 became 3000, verse 41. From there, the church began their mission to turn the world upside down; which in reality is right side up.
It was there, the real power of the church took root. Men and women, being filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit, established the form of Christian fellowship, 42: And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. A tradition still practiced in churches today around the world.
It was there the home fellowships were birthed, verses 16 and 47: So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
It was there, the power of prayer empowered by the Holy Spirit gave power to the gospel and the church became a world-changing body: And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
