Looking Beyond Tomorrow

We should become heirs…Titus 3:7

Because of what Jesus did we are joint heirs with Christ, Ephesians 3:6. That is, we are of the same body, partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel.  These words are repeated in Romans 8:17: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ…And again in Hebrews 11:9: by faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise… And again in 1 Peter 3:7: speaking of husbands and wives Peter wrote: as being heirs together of the grace of life…

But in Titus, 3, verses 4 thru 7, we read: But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

We are destined to receive what Jesus will receive.

Not because of anything we did. But according to God’s mercy and grace. According to the regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. Whom God poured out on us abundantly!

If this was all God granted us, it would be enough. But of course, as with God, there is always more. More, because of the abundant out-pouring of the Holy Spirit. More because with God all things are possible. Because with God there are blessing now and an inheritance later; or is it the other way around?
