Steadfast!

God is with you…Deuteronomy 20:1

This Moses said to Israel as they prepared to enter the land. The land was theirs, just as soon as they took it back. Salvation is a gift, just as soon as you receive it. God appointed a priest to prepare them for battle. Jesus, our high priest, has prepared us for victory. Here are the words of the priest that day, Deuteronomy 20:3-4:

Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faith, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

Like them, you live in a world who thinks the world belongs to them. Who think they are in charge. Who think they have power over you. Do not fear them. God goes with you, to fight for you against them, to save you. Goliath laughed at David until the stone struck his forehead. God gave victory to David. David still had to confront his enemy and fling the rock. God gave victory to Israel. They still had to swing the sword. God has given you victory, stand therefore in the full armor of God!

God has given us victory. Do not think God will slay your enemy before your eyes. He may. Or He may convert them to Himself. He may use your faith to shine a light into their dark minds. He may use your courage to stand to challenge their ignorance. God is not limited to our ways. God is not limited to our methods of war. If one angel can conquer thousands, think of what an entire army of angels could do!

Do not limit God. It is good at times to think of God in human terms. The Bible often reveals God this way. But God does not fit within our human limitations. Yes, Jesus, the Word, became flesh. But that does not mean He is limited by His flesh. Do not limit God as Jesus did as the Lamb of God. God is to be feared. The word of God is like a lion. You do not have to defend a lion. All you have to do is let the lion loose, and the lion will defend itself, Charles Spurgeon.

Peter said, be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith…1 Peter 5:8.

In other words, release your own lion.

For the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you!

Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong, having put on the whole armor of God—standfast!
