Living Debt Free, Part 2

How much more…Hebrews 9:14

We are set free from our sins by faith. Faith in what Jesus did. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies the purifying of the flesh, how much more… The sacrifices appointed by God pointed to Jesus. 

The Tabernacle, the priests, and all the items for worship were sanctified by blood. Then and now, sins are erased by the blood of Jesus: how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? What was done then was a rehearsal of what Jesus did on the cross.

Those purified by the blood of Jesus are now set free to serve God, that those who are called may receive the promise of eternal inheritance, Hebrews 9:15. That is you. You heard the gospel call. You responded in repentance by faith. You were sealed by the Spirit to receive your eternal inheritance! Our debt has been paid. We can now enter into the that rest: for we who have believed do enter that rest…Hebrews 4:3.

Now we can enter into the presence of God. Hebrews 10:19-20: Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which Hated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh… Before, no one could enter the Holy of Holies except the High Priest one day per year. But now, we have Jesus as our High Priest, verse 21. So now, we are invited to draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith…verse 22.

This was the purpose of the sacrifices and offerings: to draw near to God. Jesus made this possible to all who believe. All who by repentance and by faith in Jesus enter into the presence unharmed! This is living debt free: for he who has entered His rest has himself also cease from his works as God did from His, Hebrews 4:10
