God’s Greatness
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness…1 Chronicles 29:11
David wanted to build a house for the LORD. David’s generosity from his personal savings inspired the people of Israel to give willingly. Not just of their wealth, but of their labor. Verses 1 thru 9 lists the various quantities of gold, silver, bronze, iron, precious stones, and wood that were willingly given for the great temple of God. They wanted God’s house to reflect His greatness; His power; His glory; His majesty!
Think of it: what all these precious materials did in the temple of God, you do more. Whatever light was reflected in the gold and silver, you are brighter. Whatever strength was added by the bronze and iron, you are stronger. Whatever value the precious stones added, you are more valuable. For you reflect God in all His greatness, power, glory, and majesty. For the Spirit of God came upon this great temple, but the Holy Spirit is in you. The temple reflected the light to the world. You are the light of the world.
With this in your mind and in your heart, consider these words of King David: Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory, and the majesty. For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name. 1 Chronicles 29: 10 thru 13.
This is what you proclaim when you sing of God’s majesty: Majesty, worship His majesty. Unto Jesus be all glory, honor, and praise. So, exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus. Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus the King…Bill and Gloria Gather and Jack Hayford
This is what you proclaim when you share the gospel of Jesus with others. May our actions always reflect the greatness of God. May our words always invoke the power of God. May our lives reveal the majesty of our King. May the Holy Spirit living in us draw people to Jesus. Living for God is who we are. Speaking for God is what we do. So, then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, Romans 10:17. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14.
You are that preacher. Maybe the only preacher a person may hear the gospel. Share the good news that they may say, Bless the Lord, O my soul, O Lord my God. You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty, when they see Jesus coming in the clouds. (Psalm 104:1)
