Amazing Grace
My Church…Matthew 16:18
Jesus gave all for His church. When He was finished there was no more to give. He gave His life to set the prisoners free, Isaiah 61:1-2a. He came preaching repent; stop going that way—stop thinking that way. Choose God’s way. He was releasing people, one person at a time, from the gates of Hades.
I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it, Matthew 16:8. Those who were captives of death, prisoners of Hades, were set free by Jesus. Before believing in Jesus, they were dead in their sins, captives of death. After believing they were free. They became a part of His church. Just like you!
Jesus went. Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people, Matthew 9:35. Then He sent. These twelve Jesus sent out…as you go preach the kingdom of heaven is at hand, Matthew 10:5-7.
His disciples are still going and preaching. Thank God for His amazing grace. Each of us in His church were set free for the gates of Hades. Once we were prisoners, but that was then, now we are free. All because of grace. All because of what Jesus did. He left nothing undone; it is finished. “’twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved…my chains are gone, I’ve been set free, My God, My Savior has ransomed me. And like a flood His mercy reigns, unending love, amazing grace” (Chris Tomlin, Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone)
Let the whole world know: you are free in Christ. Share His love, His mercy, His amazing grace.
