Heaven’s Power
Seven Spirits of God…Revelation 3:1
Wait. There is only one Holy Spirit. True.
Jesus speaks of seven Spirits who are before the throne of God, Revelation 1:4 and 4:5. When John is invited into heaven, he hears some spectacular sounds. And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices, Revelation 4:5. He also sees many wonderful things. Like 24-elders sitting on thrones around the throne of God. Like four living creatures surrounding the throne. Among these amazing sights were the seven Spirits of God, Revelation 1:4 & 3:1 & 4:5 & 5:6.
We turn to the prophets to understand the seven Spirits of God, Isaiah 11:1 & 2: There shall come forth from a Rod (shoot) from the stem (root) of Jesse, a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. Count them. The Spirit is identified in seven different ways: 1) of the Lord, 2) of wisdom, 3) of understanding, 4) of counsel, 5) of might, 6) of knowledge and 7) of the fear of the Lord.
This is why Jesus wanted us to have the Holy Spirit. So, we could also possess these wonderful powers. Or, should we say, abilities to love one another and the lost of the world. Not by our might, but by His Spirit, God empowers us to do what He calls us to do. With the help of His Spirit, we are equipped to minister more like Jesus.
With the woman caught in adultery, Jesus was forgiving. With the Pharisees caught in trying to trick Him, Jesus was straight-forward. With the disciples who wanted to know if they should pay their taxes, ‘who’s image is on the coin? Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s.” Isaiah revealed the Spirit of the Lord was upon Messiah. God wanted us to know this because He knew His Spirit would be given to us. That His Spirit would rest upon you. More accurately, dwell within you. Like Jesus, you have the seven Spirits of the Lord. Enjoy the power!
