Christmas Giving
Freely give us all things…Romans 8:32
Christmas is a time of giving. He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32. Given all that God has given us how can we not give grace to others?
It began in the garden, See, I have given you every herb that yields seed…to you it shall be for food, Genesis 1:29. After the flood, our food was extended, every moving thing that lives shall be food for you, I have given you all things, even as the green herbs, Genesis 9:3. Rest is given to those who perish in the tribulation, then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed, Revelation 6:11. Those in Christ are in want of no spiritual gift, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 2 Peter 1:3
All that is necessary to live has been given to us. All that is necessary to righteousness is ours. As Adam and Eve were lacking nothing for food, we lack nothing to survive spiritually. For to us a Son was given…Isaiah 9:6. If the celebration of His birth means anything, it means receiving and giving mercy, grace, and love. Freely you have received, freely give, Matthew 10:8. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God, 1 Corinthians 2:12. God held nothing from us. Nor should we withhold love in our sharing of His gifts with others.
Christmas has come to mean many things. Some are not so good. The best is sharing the free gift of Jesus with others. Our Father has held nothing back. He has given us all things. The most precious of His gifts: His love. Like our Father, we give our love. God knows they need it.
